Terms of Service

IMPORTANT NOTICE: RetroBBS / Legend of Hyve distributes blockchain tokens (RETRO/HYVE) as in-game rewards. These tokens may have monetary value, and receipt of tokens may be a taxable event under applicable law. This platform is not available where participation would be unlawful. Access requires confirmation that you are 18 years of age or older, that participation is lawful in your jurisdiction, and that you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using RetroBBS ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service.
- You must not be located in, or be a resident of, any jurisdiction where participation in blockchain token reward programs, sweepstakes, or games of chance is prohibited by law.
- Residents of the following are explicitly excluded pending legal review: jurisdictions that classify play-to-earn token distribution as unlicensed money transmission or gambling (including but not limited to states or countries with such laws in force).
- You are solely responsible for determining whether your participation is lawful in your jurisdiction.
3. No Purchase Required
No purchase is necessary to participate in the base game or to earn in-game token rewards. Free-to-play accounts may earn RETRO/HYVE tokens by playing the game without any purchase. Purchases of in-game items (Forest Passes, potions, buffs) provide convenience benefits only and do not provide a statistically higher expected token earnings rate than the free-play path. Holding qualifying tokens for Premium features provides cosmetic and convenience perks; it does not change the per-fight token reward rate.
4. Token Rewards — Not a Security; Not Guaranteed
- RETRO and HYVE tokens are distributed as in-game rewards for entertainment purposes. They are not investments and are not offered as securities.
- Token rewards are capped per address per day. Caps and reward rates may change at any time without notice.
- We do not guarantee the market price, liquidity, or future value of any token. Past reward rates do not guarantee future rates.
- Token distributions depend on on-chain smart contract execution and blockchain network conditions; we are not liable for delays, failures, or losses caused by network congestion, validator downtime, or smart contract bugs.
5. Tax Obligations
Receipt of RETRO/HYVE tokens may constitute taxable ordinary income under the laws of your jurisdiction (e.g., IRS Notice 2014-21 and Rev. Rul. 2023-14 in the United States). You are solely responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes on tokens received. We do not provide tax advice. Consult a qualified tax professional regarding your obligations.
6. In-Game Store and Premium Features
- In-game purchases grant in-game items only. All sales are final; no refunds are provided except as required by applicable law.
- In-game items (potions, buffs, passes) have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for real currency or blockchain tokens.
- Forest Pass restores daily fight allotment up to the free daily baseline only; it cannot grant additional fights beyond the free allocation.
- Mystery Box, Daily Chest, and Weekly Forge Token contents are randomly selected. Odds are disclosed in-app. These items do not affect base token earnings rates.
7. Restricted Features
For launch, the following features are currently disabled pending legal review and additional product controls: on-chain LORD wagers, token wager modes in the door games, Gold Marketplace, and leveraged gold/token trading. These features will not be re-enabled without updated legal disclosures, technical safeguards, and any required jurisdiction restrictions.
Some in-game gold-only competitive features may still be available. Availability of any feature may change by chain, jurisdiction, or product policy at any time.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Exploit bugs, race conditions, or unintended game mechanics to obtain rewards beyond normal gameplay;
- Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to farm rewards;
- Use multiple accounts to circumvent per-address daily reward caps;
- Attempt to manipulate, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the validator wallet or reward distribution system;
- Engage in any conduct that violates applicable law, including money laundering, sanctions evasion, or tax fraud.
Violation may result in immediate account termination and forfeiture of any pending rewards.
9. Smart Contract Risk
Token distributions interact with deployed smart contracts on RetroChain and HyveChain. Smart contracts may contain bugs, be subject to upgrades, or become non-functional. We are not liable for losses arising from smart contract failure, blockchain forks, or network unavailability.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES AND SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF IN-GAME ITEMS OR TOKEN REWARDS.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent superseded by applicable federal law.
